There's currently a massive push, driven by people, for businesses to be more sustainable. Paper receipts are non-recyclable, consume oil, trees, and water, and they don’t fit into the digital lifestyle that we currently have.
The Beat the Receipt campaign seeks to raise awareness about the detrimental impact of paper receipts on our environment. The main goals of the campaign are:
- To educate the public and increase awareness of the polluting nature of paper receipts
- To encourage retailers to take a proactive approach in offering digital alternatives
- To advocate for consumer rights and work with consumer interest groups to push for digital alternatives as an industry standard
